Hi everyone! No regular blog this week just a quick update on how things are looking after Hurricane Milton has left us. We had a very long night last night with loud winds and heavy rain. Thankfully, we only have a down fence panel and some water in our entryway. We are lucky to still have power as well. There are some updates from Disney World as of this morning so I thought I would share those with you all!

Disney World Remains Closed Today
Today, Thursday, October 10th Disney World will remain closed. This includes all the theme parks and Disney Springs and the cancellation of tonights Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party that will be refunded to guests who had tickets. They are extending guests multi-day tickets to go through tomorrow as they are planning to reopen on Friday. Fort Wilderness Campgrounds and the Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs are expected to remain closed util Sunday. The resorts that have guests in them are offering free movies in the rooms, free play at the arcades and there are characters in the lobbies to continue to make some Disney Magic. Those ride out crews of Cast Members really deserve the best so make sure you are super kind to them if you are in a Disney Resort right now! All the water parks and mini golf courses will be closed today as well and dining reservations will be cancelled for today with no penalty.

How Was The Storm
Hurricane Milton made for a very long, sleepless night here. Here where we are in Winter Garden, FL we got the worst of it after midnight through about 6am this morning. We sustained between 30-40mph winds with up to 60mph gusts. It really felt like the gusts were stronger than that and they were so loud. I am not 100% sure but I think it crossed over us as still a category 2 but it may have weakened to a 1. I was so tired at that point I couldn’t comprehend what they were saying on the TV anymore. Our power flickered a bunch around 11pm but it held on and we still have power and minimal damage so we were very lucky! Downtown Orlando really prepared well and lowered the lake levels to try and avoid flooding, it seems that was successful! Overall our area really got lucky but our prayers are with all the coastal communities that were hit the hardest.

Conclusion
It was definitely a rough night but could have been a lot worse. I am very thankful that we have maintained power and came out relatively unscathed. I hope wherever you are reading this from you also are in good shape and please keep the central coast of Florida in your thoughts and prayers as they are not so lucky today. I can’t wait to be able to get back into the parks and just see for myself that all is well there. I have no doubt it is but being there is like therapy for me and will help me decompress some of this stress and anxiety that is still holding on even after the storm has passed. Thank you for reading along and thank you to everyone who has reached out and checked on us! Have a magical day!
