Arrrrrg! This week Disney gave us some exciting Beak and Barrel announcements, including an opening date! Beak and Barrel will be the first bar/lounge in Magic Kingdom. Beak and Barrel will be located by Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland, naturally. The opening date has been set for August 29th. Don’t get caught walking the plank on August 14th, that’s when reservations officially open for the new lounge. Let’s dive into some details!

Beak and Barrel Atmosphere
We don’t have any concrete details here just a lot of mentions. BUT this sounds like it’s going to be a really fun, Trader Sam’s “ish” bar. Disney Parks Blog says we can expect nods to the original attraction and the films. They also say we will experience sing-a-longs, storytelling and enchanting surprises. Reminds me a little bit of the Adventurers Club that used to be in Disney Springs, Pleasure Island. I honestly cannot wait to see what kind of characters are in Beak and Barrel!

The Back Story
The Beak and Barrel is said to be established by Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn and her talkative parrot, Rummy. Rummy is the taverns quartermaster, he will tell stories, keep the bar running smoothly and even lead some sing-a-longs. Rummy looks a lot like the original barker bird that used to be outside the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I have a feeling he will have quite the personality, plus I love his belly tattoo!
There will be a large center space called “The Mess” with long community tables and a candle covered anchor on the ceiling. An impressive bar made from a shipwreck will be on one side of the room, this is where you will find the Enchanted Rum Bottle! This bottle was gifted to Merry by Tia Dalma who you might remember from Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Mans Chest. The Enchanted Rum Bottle is said to be the source of the taverns magic!
In the Captain’s Quarters you will find fine art work and a fireplace adorned with fine miniature ships in bottles. These ships have been known to come alive so keep an eye out for that! These quarters were once the living quarters of the Spanish Comandante. There may have been a battle in here at some point because there are some cuts and slashes on all that fine artwork.

Beak and Barrel Food Menu
This is a bar/lounge so there is not an extensive menu here but what they have announced sounds very interesting! This weeks Beak and Barrel announcements included the food menu items below:
- Kraken’s Catch: Cold salad with Octopus tentacles, marinated in lemon and lime juice and paired with olives, bell peppers, avocado and Piquillo pepper-almond foam
- Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes: Warm corn cake stuffed with melted cheese, lime sour cream and chili peppers and topped with cotija cheese. You can get these with roasted corn and poblano peppers or with chipotle-braised chicken.
- Island Provisions: Shareable plate with plantain chips, blue corn tortillas and toasted flatbread served with various savory dips.

Beak and Barrel Drink Menu
On top of a list of wines and beers there were also lots of fun cocktails and even some mocktails included in the Beak and Barrel announcements! I have no doubt there will be some really fun souvenir cups that come out of Beak and Barrel too.
- The Treasure Trove: Cocktail cloaked in mystery. Mix of ube, lemon and coconut. Comes with sweet treats like a vanilla cake plank, chocolate cannonball and golden caramel popcorn.
- The Cursed Treasure: The second mocktail is a combination of coconut milk and cookie crumbs topped with vanilla foam and pirates gold cookie. Think cookies and cream!
- Salty Seas mARRRgarita: Southeast Asian flavors including ube that give it a purple color, as well as Lala Blanco Tequilla, Cointreau and lime.
- Siren’s Whisper: This cocktail is blue and promises eternal youth! Pot & Crumb Still White Rum with citrus and spice. The drink is topped with a special Siren’s tear.
- Barrel’s Ablaze: Sounds like their version of an old fashioned. Jack Daniel’s Bonded Bourbon, a hint of honey and a dash of spice.
- Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale: Lightly sweet and refreshing rum-based drink topped with Prosecco. Bubbly effervescence combined with hibiscus, Demerara and citrus.
- Port of Call: This one is for the gin lovers! London Dry Gin, Ruby Port, lemon juice and spiced cranberry. This sounds delicious!!
- Lit Fuse: Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Meszal and flavors of banana, coconut and smoked chili bitters
- Plunder’s Punch: Kraken Black Spiced Rum, blackberry, vanilla and a hint of citrus. This one come with a souvenir pirate skull mug, limited one per guest!!

Beak and Barrel Merchandise
No new Disney would be complete without some merch to take home! So far they have just announced that Beak and Barrel will have a t-shirt and a shoulder pal plush of Rummy the parrot. I have no doubt there will be more to come. Maybe even some surprises they have not told us about yet. All of the merch will be in the store at the exit of Pirates of the Caribbean.

Conclusion
I am super excited for all these Beak and Barrel announcements and for this to open later this month! I think it will be a great addition to Magic Kingdom that will be fun for all ages. Plus it gives us adults an opportunity to get a drink with out having to do a full blown table service reservation. But, at the same time it still maintains Walt’s preference for Magic Kingdom to not be a place where adults aren’t walking around with alcohol. I think that’s great too. This isn’t going to be a walk up type location for quite a while, I’m sure! You will most likely have to have a reservation to get in for a while just like you do for Geo-82 in Epcot. But over time you might be able to walk up like you can at times with Oga’s Cantina in Hollywood Studios.
I am excited for another interactive bar like Trader Sam’s. You can discover something new every time you go there and I think this will be the same way. I have my alarm set to go off at 6:55 am on August 14th. I’m gonna try and get one of the first reservations. Make sure you grab yours too and let me know what you think about this new addition to Magic Kingdom. Thank you for reaching along and have a magically pirate day!
