What To Do When You’re Not At Disney

We all know how the Disney blues feel, that horrible time between trips or when there is not one on the horizon and you crave that magic! I know this feeling all to well and I thought this week I would pass on some of the ways we used to incorporate some Disney magic into our not so Disney days as well as some new ones we have discovered! I hope you all have a Disney countdown going and this weeks post helps you pass the time!

Disney Movie Nights

This is something we still do even though we live 20 minutes from Magic Kingdom but it definitely got us through some not so magical times before we moved too! Pick a Disney movie or even series, hunker down with the family and make a whole night of it. You can plan your meal or snacks around the movie’s theme, maybe dress up or decorate the living room a little, even create a fun menu or craft based on the movie. This is such a fun easy way to make something as simple as watching a movie super magical!

Watch Some YouTube

This was definitely a go to for us before we moved! Whether it’s a live stream like you can find on Friday nights with ResortTV1, a vlog of an event or happening with Paging Mr Morrow, a ride POV like I have on my channel or maybe you just need to watch Happily Every After fireworks to end the day right, YouTube has got you! We wold sometimes have this on as background noise while we did other things just to feel like we were there and other times we would be active in chats on live streams or watch a vlog to see what we would like or do if we were there. This is a fun one but can definitely make you miss it a lot too!

Disney Family Game Night

There are soooo many fun Disney games out there now! We love the Disney edition of Color Brain personally. It’s fun for a large age range so the whole family can enjoy and you can even play on teams. Maybe you just do a fun Disney trivia night and see who the biggest Disnerd in the family happens to be! If you are a Monopoly or Clue fan there are Disney versions of both of those as well. There are even Disney video games if that’s more your jam! There is Kingdom Hearts that will give you lots of fun nights and Disney Speedstorm which is a fairly new racing game that is super fun. You can watch our friends at Tuna Gaming play Speedstorm here, it is such a fun game and it is FREE!! Have the family put on their Mickey ears and get ready for some competition with a little pixie dust on top!

Make a Countdown Calendar

If you are lucky enough to have Disney trip coming up, have a craft night to make a countdown calendar! My most favorite one we ever made was on a big piece of poster board that I made a full calendar with little doors that opened on each day. When Sawyer opened each days door there was a different character (sticker, I am no artist) for that day and a little quote that character would say. He was so excited each day to open the next door and see who it was, helped make it seem like it wasn’t so far away. You can do one big one or each person make their own, the possibilities are endless!

Conclusion

The Disney blues are not fun and realistically, when you don’t live right here there are times you don’t know when you will be coming back. First world problems for sure but still can make you sad when you just need a little pixie dust and a hug from Mickey to lighten your mood. These days we are definitely spoiled because we can just go to the parks most of the time when we want to but there were more that a few years that that was not the case and the Disney blues hit hard! But we did find fun ways to try and bring the magic to us and I hope some of these ideas can help you too if you are missing Disney right now. And if you need to book a trip so you can make that countdown calendar, let me know! I’d be happy to book it for you!

As always, I am so happy and thankful you are here and hope this post made you smile! This blog is certainly my happy place and I hope it is a happy place for you too. Have a magical day!
