What Does A Week Living In Disney Look Like?

So what does a normal week living 20 minutes from Disney look like?!  Well, I suppose it looks a lot like anyone else’s week except we get to run away to Disney a little!  Some weeks we get to go more than others and some weeks we don’t get to go at all because of one reason or another, but I thought I would kind of tell you a little bit about what a typical week looks like!

Of course the boys go to school Monday through Friday so they aren’t going to the parks during the day!  Although we have taken them out early a couple of times to sneak over to the parks and have a little extra time.  We have probably done that, maybe 2-3 times since school started, we try not to make a habit of it!  Jay works out of the house now so unless it’s an off day that he gets to be home and has nothing going on he doesn’t get to go much during the day either.  For me it depends on how much I am subbing at the schools that week.  Some weeks I don’t have much going on and I go pretty frequently to get pictures of the newest update or announcement Disney has put out or see if I can get pictures of the new merchandise or snacks.  Other weeks I sub a lot and will probably only get over to the parks once during the day.

Do We Go Everyday?

As far as evenings go, we are just like you and have things going on then too.  Mondays and Tuesdays I teach dance later in the evening and the boys have things on Wednesdays.  But we do slip into the parks in the evenings as much as we can throughout the week, this is what that looks like!

Sometimes we plan ahead to go into a certain park one day that week and we discuss which one and make the park reservation.  Other times it’s spur of the moment and fate decides which park is open for reservations.  Epcot has been a favorite lately because the boys want to ride the new Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind coaster as much as they possibly can.  If ou haven’t been on it yet it is AMAZING!!  You have to get into a virtual queue to ride this one right now so it is a plan ahead park visit.

When Do We Typically Go To Disney?

A lot of times we go on Thursday evening after dinner for a little while and on Fridays after school.  Every once in a while we will try to squeeze a quick trip to the parks in before I have to teach on Monday nights.  We almost always eat dinner before going to the park, not only to save money but also so that we can just do what we want in the park and get home at a reasonable time, especially on school nights!

What Do We Do In Disney?

We don’t go in and run from thing to thing or shut the parks down every time we go.  It’s much more relaxed, because we know if we don’t get to it that night, we can always do it next time, which could even be tomorrow.  A luxury we still aren’t totally convinced is real life!!  Hahaha!

What it usually looks like is the boys have picked something they want to do that evening, a ride or attraction and we will go do those couple things and then head home.  We walk slower than we used to through the parks since we aren’t trying to fit it all in, we let people cut in front of us because we know they probably have to go home soon and we can come back tomorrow and we just enjoy the sights and sounds of the parks.

Seeing All The Special Stuff

The past few weeks have been filled with making sure we’ve seen as much of the Christmas decorations and offerings in the parks as possible.  We have the Pixie Pass for our annual passes so that means we are now blacked out of the parks until after New Years (insert crying face here).  But we made it to all 4 parks to see all the Christmas things and that was pretty cool!  Now if we need a Disney fix we can still go to Disney Springs and the resorts.

How About The Weekends

Our Pixie Passes are blacked out every weekend as well so unless it’s Springs or a resort, we typically aren’t at Disney on the weekends.

You can almost always find us hanging out on Plant St on the weekends!  Every Saturday morning we go down to the farmers market to get all our fruits and veggies for the week and just walk around all the vendor booths.  We might grab lunch at Harrells Hotdog’s or Whole Enchilada, Thatcher will either be found playing in the splash pad if it’s warm or running around with a gaggle of other crazy boys in one of the green spaces.

We might end up at a resort or Disney Springs but guaranteed we will be in Downtown Winter Garden over the weekend.  Just enjoying our “charming little city with a juicy past”.

It’s Still Real Life

Thats really it, we still have homework to get done and laundry and dishes and all the normal things.  Unfortunately Snow White and Cinderellas little animal friends did not show up to help with all of that just because we live behind Magic Kingdom now.  Hahahaha!!  But we get it all done so we can go and play, and it sure is nice to have our happy place be where we can go and play.  I don’t think it will ever get old!

Solo & Childless Park Trips

Going into the parks by myself has been a new experience and a pretty cool one.  Nine times out of ten, I don’t ride a thing, just walk around and enjoy the views, find a place to sit and write, take pictures and then head out!  When me and Jay get to go sans kiddos it’s pretty cool too.  We hadn’t been to the parks just the two of us since our honeymoon.  We ride and do things the boys aren’t really interested in doing and just get to walk slow and hold hands without interruption.

Conclusion

I hope you all enjoyed this weeks post, a little glimpse into what it’s like each week.  I so appreciate you all being here and reading my ramblings!  I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas as it’s only 3 days away as I write this!  I’ll see you next week right before New Years!  Have a magical day!!
