Rainy Days in Disney World

This time of year you can pretty much bet on the fact that it will rain just about everyday in Disney World. It might be for 5 minutes or a few hours but it will rain. So what do you do when you are here on vacation and your day is getting rained out? Believe it or not there are some benefits to a rainy day in Disney World and I figured I would tell you what we do on rainy days and how you can take full advantage of your next rainy day!

Be Prepared

Always check the weather but even then, come prepared for the rain even if it says it won’t rain. All you have to do is click here in Central Florida and the weather will change! There are lots of ways to be prepared for the rain, best piece of advice is to get all of those things BEFORE you get to the parks. If you wait until you are inside the parks you will pay twice as much if not more than you need to! Ponchos, umbrellas and some dry socks are the best items to make sure you have with you. That way you don’t get soaked and if your socks do, you have some to change into. A little tip is to put the extra socks in a ziplock bag so if your bag gets wet your socks are still dry!

Enjoy The Resort

Remember that resort you paid so much money for but you barely see because you’re in the parks the whole time? Well this is a golden opportunity to make the most of that money and have some time in that nice room! Order a pizza, watch a Disney movie and wait for the storm to pass if the rain is too heavy to stay in the park. Chances are it’s not going to rain all day, plus if it does but there is no thunder and lightning you can have a rainy pool day at the resort!

Stay In The Park

The parks can be so much fun in the rain! If you are in Magic Kingdom you might get to see the Rainy Day Cavalcade that you can only see when it’s raining. On top of that, most people leave the parks when it starts to rain so the wait times get low and you may be able to ride some things that you would usually have to wait a long time for. Keep in mind that some rides that are outside may close but everything that is indoors will still be open and some attractions that are partly outside will remain open if there is not thunder or lightning in the area. Another plus side is that, if you are like me, you can get your family into some of the shows that they would usually not want to go to. Those are all inside and a great escape from the rain!

Go To Disney Springs

Another great option for a rainy Disney World day is to head over to Disney Springs! You can try a new restaurant, go bowling at Splitsville or even see a movie at AMC to get out of the rain. Plus with all the shopping choices there are lots of places to duck in out of the rain and find some fun things to take home with you.

Conclusion

While a rainy day isn’t what you dream of your Disney day looking like it can still be really fun! Especially with kids, I know mine love jumping in the puddles and just running around in the rain in the parks. Let’s be honest, it’s usually us adults that don’t want to get soaked! I know I am not the only one who thinks a rainy day in Disney is better than a sunny day anywhere else.

I hope this post will help you deal with a rainy day this summer while you are visiting Disney World and still make the most of your time here. As always I am so thankful you are here and reading my blog and I hope you have a magical day!
