Muppets Takeover Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

How about some backstage passes?? Scooter and the Muppets are going to be hooking us all up starting Summer of 2026! Aerosmith will be retiring to make way for a Muppets takeover of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem are ready to rock in Hollywood Studios! Disney gave us some details past the opening timeframe and some concept art that I can’t wait to share with you all! I am excited for this refurb and for the Muppets to still have a space in Hollywood Studios. Even if it isn’t our beloved Muppets Courtyard. Let’s jump in and see what’s coming!

Muppets Takeover Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Storyline

You know, there just really are not a lot of options here. Aerosmith needed to get to their concert and so does the Electric Mayhem. Only this time, instead of their agent calling the limo’s we will see Scooter running the show with a little help from Muppets Lab. I can’t wait to see how Beaker and Professor Honeydew help us get to the concert on time. We are still headed to Hollywood in this Muppets takeover of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Pre Show, Props & Ride for the Muppets Takeover

You can’t ride Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster without stepping into the sound booth to meet the band right? Well, in the Muppets takeover it’s just a little different. In the Aerosmith version you were in the booth with the mics and instruments and the band were on the other side mixing music. In the Muppets version we are on the mixing side with the Electric Mayhem in the recording booth. Scooter and the Muppets Lab are getting us those backstage passes and super stretch’s to get to Hollywood. The penguins are the ones mixing the music and I’m sure that will be seamless!

Giant electric guitar outside Rock 'n' Roller Coaster

Inside the ride, the only thing we have been told is that the set pieces will get a Muppets touch but will remain mostly the same. The same goes for the ride itself. There have been no announcements of the actual ride changing. The launch and inversions will be sticking around.

Disney has said that Electric Mayhem will have some new tunes and help from famous artists. The possibilities are endless as far as the music goes. This could be really fun with lots of different music! I can’t wait to hear what is used on the ride. While they are adding that Muppets touch to the inside, the big electric guitar outside is getting a new paint job too. A new psychedelic paint job to match the Electric Mayhem vibe and you will even see a gold piano key to represent Dr Teeth’s gold tooth. I love this and cannot wait to take pictures in with this!

When are the Muppets Taking Over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster

We do not have a closing date for the Aerosmith version or an exact opening date of the Muppets takeover of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster yet. But, we do have an opening timeframe! Summer of 2026 will be the start of the Electric Mayhem concert series in Hollywood Studio. I can’t wait!

Miss Piggy fountain in Muppet Courtyard

Conclusion

I am really excited for this refurb. While I love Aerosmith’s music and have enjoyed singing along to them for all these years. I think a refund is well over due. With Muppet Courtyard closing to make way for Monster’s Inc, the Muppets needed a new home in Hollywood Studios. I think this is a great fit. I am hopeful we will get a Muppet Courtyard 2.0 out front of the ride. Maybe we will even see Miss Piggy’s fountain again.

I think the person with the best ideas of really incorporating parts of Muppet Vision 3D into his ride refurb has been DSNY Newscast. He even has the perfect place for Statler and Waldorf to heckle the crowd! This should be a fairly quick refurb. They are not changing anything major about the ride so hopefully we won’t be without Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster for too long while the Muppets takeover! I hope you are ready to rock with the Muppets next summer and have a magical day!
