If you are traveling to Orlando for a Disney vacation, there is a good chance you are flying in and out of the MCO airport. When we lived in NC arriving at this airport was like the official start to our Disney vacation! MCO has now created an app to make that experience easy and magical for Disney travelers coming in and out of this airport. It’s a one stop shop for all the things you want to know about the most magical airport on earth! Hahaha! Let’s dive in and see what it’s all about!
Orlando MCO App
The app has been around for a while but has recently gone through some renovations. It has a new look that reflects the Florida vibe better and has easier access to what you want to know. The Orlando MCO app can really tell you all that you need to know to make your airport experience less chaotic. The home page allows you to add your flights and will stay up to date on flight status right there on the Home Screen. Also on the Home Screen is the current security wait times, this is a game changer because it helps you plan more accurately when to arrive at the airport and how to prepare for that security line.
Disney Transfer
Since the Magical Express is not there anymore (insert sad face here) you have the daunting task of finding the most economical and comfortable way to get from the airport to the Disney Resort. There are lots of options, everything from Uber or Lyft to the Mears buses and the Sunshine Flyer. Finding all the information about each one of these can feel overwhelming but now you can see all the information about each one and even book them right from the Orlando MCO app! There is a “to and from” tab on the bottom of the app that will show you all the options, even cruise transfers. My favorite part is that it tells you where they are and how to get to them, priceless!
Shopping and Dining
You can even see where to go get some Disney shopping done in the airport before you even get to the park! Or maybe you missed out on that one thing you wanted? Not to worry, there are Disney stores in the MCO airport! You can click the “where is” tab on the app and search Disney, it will tell you all the locations to get Disney merchandise in the airport! You can also see all the dining options in your terminal so if you are delayed or just early and have some time to kill you can go get a bite to eat. The app will even show you where bathrooms, charging stations, ATMs and more amenities are located.
Visit Orlando
If you happen to be there for more than just Disney, don’t worry, there is info on all kinds of things to do while you are in Orlando! If you go to the Orlando Experience section there is a long list of just about everything you can do in the Orlando area. I thought this was a really cool feature on the app because you really have no idea how much there is to do in this area until you start looking into it but it can feel overwhelming to try and find it all in different places.
Conclusion
I know this is a little different from the normal posts you see here at Dancing to Disney but when I saw that this app had launched with all the upgrades I just thought it was something really cool that could really benefit a lot of people. Having so much in one place is such a game changer. Flight status, security wait times and so much more in one spot will make the start and finish of your trip so much smoother. I wish this had been around when we were still living in NC and traveling here so much, but I’ll definitely be using it as I travel for dance this season.
