Last weekend Star Wars fans across the galaxy celebrated May the 4th! If you don’t know what that is, think may the force be with you but make it the 4th of May instead. Haha! May the 4th in Disney World is so much fun and it has become a tradition for my family and so many others. Most of the festivities happen in Hollywood Studios with a few things in Disney Springs as well. If you were not able to celebrate May the 4th in Disney World, here’s what you missed.
May the 4th in Disney Springs
You can usually count on the Lego Store to offer some May the 4th fun in Disney Springs and this year was no different. From May 2nd – 4th there were all kinds of fun things happening:
- You could purchase some special Star Wars Lego sets
- Help create a Star Wars Lego mural
- Take pictures with a summer vacation Darth Vader giant Lego creation
- Get a Lego Grogu ear hat (think Burger King crown)
- Build a mini Lego Grogu in a pod set to take home
Unlike other years, they seemed to have TONS of the Grogu sets, last year they ran out in the first couple of hours. Throughout Disney Springs there were stores with Star Wars merchandise featured and some having sales on their Star Wars stuff. You can also find Star Wars treats at the Ganachery and Amorette’s Patisserie. If you are a Lego and a Star Wars fan, May the 4th is a great time in Disney Springs!
May the 4th in Hollywood Studios
Of course you have to go to Hollywood Studios to celebrate Star Wars day! Galaxy’s Edge is definitely the place to be on May the 4th in Disney World. There are all the normal Star Wars things to do in Hollywood Studios, the rides, food, shopping and just feeling like you are in Star Wars in Galaxy’s Edge. But there are also a lot of fun extra things for May the 4th!
Characters
You can always meet Chewbacca, BB-8 and Darth Vader at the Star Wars Launch Bay but on May the 4th they have some friends jointing them! Chopper and R2D2 rolled around in the launch bay and had some pretty impressive lines for pictures. These are two of my most favorite Star Wars droids so it was very cool to see them in real life. Plus the launch bay helped us avoid getting soaked in the morning downpour! We had to go see BB-8 and Darth Vader too.
In Galaxy’s Edge you can always see Chewie, Rey, Kylo, Storm Troopers, Mando and Grogu and Vi Moradi walking around and interacting with guests. I was kind of hoping they would bring our some other characters for May the 4th in Disney World like they do in Disneyland but alas, they did not. BUT, honestly, the fans make it feel like there are so many characters out and about. Everyone is dressed as their favorite character and some are so good they could be mistaken as Cast Members. I love seeing everyone dressed up and finding empty spaces to have lightsaber duels or just practice their saber skills. It is very cool! My kids had their fair share of lightsaber duels in different parts of the park. The boys went with the same outfits as last year, they are their favorites so they didn’t want to do something different. Thatcher was Obi-Wan and Sawyer was Cal Kestis. I went with a Princess Leia on Endor bound and Jay was my Ewok! Haha!
May The Food Be With You
It wouldn’t be Disney without special food items! In Hollywood Studios there were lots of Star Wars food items to pick from:

- Chosen One Cooler (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- Sith Lord Libation (alcoholic and non-alcoholic)
- Lightsaber Churro with Chocolate Sauce
- Mythrol Orb Tart

- Mosberry Biscuit
- The Mythosuar Cocktail
We didn’t get a ton of food but we did get both the Chosen One Cooler and Sith Lord Libation…..mama had to have the lightsaber swizzle sticks! Haha! We also got the Mythosuar mug without the cocktail, it was too cool to not be in our collection. If special food is your thing, Disney definitely had you covered on May the 4th. We focused on rides and experiences as opposed to the food this year.
May The Merch Be With You
Was there May the 4th exclusive merchandise? Ummm Duh, this is Disney, of course there was! At the front of the park, one of the stores had a queue line all day to come in and shop. We did eventually stop in here but it was just for Star Wars stuff that is always in this store. I think they just added a few items for the 20th anniversary of Revenge of the Sith but it was mostly the same. But at the Company One store over in Muppets Courtyard you had to get in a virtual queue to shop the May the 4th exclusive merch. There were some really cool items but unfortunately they sold out of the pins and that’s what I always get. Also, they did have all of it available on DisneyStore.com! If I had thought about it, I would have ordered it from there and not waited in the queue line. There was also an exclusive May the 4th Pandora charm that I was dying over! Princess Leia and R2?! I didn’t get it but I really wanted it!

Popcorn Buckets & Sippers for May the 4th in Disney World
What is an event in Disney World without some popcorn buckets and sipper cups! This year we had some pretty awesome ones and we had to have them all. There were two popcorn buckets, the Death Star and the Salvaged Clone Trooper Helmet. The Death Star lights up and makes noises like it is revving up to destroy Alderan. The laser part on the front slowly lights up each section until it’s ready to fire and then shoots the planet! The Clone Trooper Helmet was a lot like the Storm Trooper helmet from last year but in Clone form. But I mean when you started collecting them last year you kind of have to keep going right?! Our collection is getting bigger faster, now that we live here so we are going to have to reevaluate where we have them displayed soon! Haha!
The sipper cup was a Jawa!! I love the Jawa’s so so much so I had to have this. Not only is it super cute but it also talks and the eyes light up. When I pushed the button and it said OOTINI, I lost it….so cute! We have a growing collection of sippers too, this might be becoming a problem. There was also a Coaxium Sipper at the Milk Stand. We did pass on this one so I will take that as a win and be proud of myself for resisting having all the things! Haha!
Conclusion
We absolutely love May the 4th in Disney World, it has become something we look forward to all year long. If you are a Star Wars fan, you should definitely plan a trip to be here to celebrate May the 4th. It is so amazing to see so many Star Wars fans all dressed up and living their best Star Wars story in Hollywood Studios. I do wish that Disney would bring more of the experiences Disneyland gets to Disney World. The special characters, season of the force experiences and Star Wars nights would be incredible and I know the tickets would sell out! The one thing I didn’t write about above is the Lightsaber meet up that happens at around 9:45 in front of the Millennium Falcon. This is truly awesome to see but it is super crowded and Batuu was at capacity on Sunday night. With kids who had to go to school the next day and a husband that doesn’t do well with crowds in tight spaces, this is just not realistic for us. But I truly love seeing everyone’s videos of the all the lightsabers activating at the same time! Star Wars is such a special fandom with the greatest characters and stories, there are endless possibilities for fun and entertainment.
