If you were a 90’s/2000’s Disney kid you remember Disney Quest in Disney Springs when it was still called Downtown Disney. This interactive area had all kinds of cool things and it has been missed! Disney Springs opened the NBA Experience in this space after that and it did not do well, it has been vacant since that closed and we have been waiting to see what might be next. Yesterday we got the news! Level 99, an interactive, social entertainment experience known fir it’s challenge rooms will be taking over this space! We do not know a date yet but this is exciting news, let’s dive in!

What is Level 99?
Level 99 is an interactive, competitive social gaming venue for adults according to their website. This new location in Disney Springs will be the fifth Level 99 location and their largest location ever. According to the details released yesterday by Disney and Level 99 this location will have over 60 challenge rooms and duels. It will be a two story venue that is over 45,000 square feet that can host up to 1,000 players at a time, so an amazing space to take some Disney Springs traffic off the streets! There will be a two story bar with handcrafted cocktails and local beers with a chef created menu. Level 99 is known for its award winning Detroit style pizza and this location will be serving that as well. The layout has not totally been announced except that the bar will be the centerpiece of the venue. Disney stated that they selected Level 99 after doing a lot of research on the location based entertainment industry and sees a lot of potential in the experience Level 99 provides to guests.

According to the Level 99 website, a typical day consists of 2-3 hours of play followed by drinks and food at the bar. Some players can make a whole day of it by doing challenge rooms, duels throughout the venue for player vs player showdowns and even art hunts for hidden glyphs amongst hundreds of local art pieces unique to each location. Level 99 stated they plan to hire over 100 roles for the new Disney Springs location!

What Used To Be Here?
We are making an assumption that this will take over the NBA Experience building, I mean where else in Disney Springs has this kind of space? But what used to be here? Well from 1998 to 2017 this was Disney Quest, an incredible interactive gaming experience that I know a lot of people miss, me included. After Disney Quest closed the building was demolished and a new one built that housed the NBA Experience for only one year, It opened in 2019 and closed in 2020. Obviously the pandemic was not kind to a new attraction opening but I never thought this was going to take off in Disney Springs. Just doesn’t seem like the local or visiting audience were the right demographic for this.

Conclusion
I am personally really excited for this! I loved Disney Quest and was so sad that my kids never got to experience that. This feels very Disney Questesh to me and I think it is the right kind of thing to add to Disney Springs. It was really needing something other than just shopping and food. I know we have Cirque de Soleil too but this will be a welcome addition that is different and new. I am curious, did you go to Disney Quest and how are you feeling about this change? Let me know! Thank you so much for reading along and have a magical day!
