Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon

Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon

Boom Baby!! During Destination D23 we got to experience Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon water park. If you are an Emperors New Groove fan like me you are excited about this! What better venue than Typhoon Lagoon for Kuzco’s lavish, personalized summer getaway?! There were special event foods, characters, photo ops and of course waterslides. This was so much fun and probably one of my favorite themed events D23 has done. Let’s go!

Boom Baby! Emperor Kuzco at Kuzcotopia

Kuzcotopia Characters at Typhoon Lagoon

I am not going to lie, I was really excited to see the characters from Emperors New Groove and fully prepared to wait in line to get pictures. But, unfortunately that was not the case. We got to see Kuzco, Llama Kuzco, Kronk and Yzma but only on the stage. They had a DJ doing a Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon poolside party by the wave pool and one character at a time would come out to take a turn on the dance floor. While this was really fun, it would have been cool to be able to get pictures with them. At the same time, I’m sure those lines would have been wrapped around the park!

On the other side of Typhoon Lagoon you could take pictures with Mickey, Minnie and Donald in their best poolside fashion! This was a long line but I think if you got in it you actually got to go to each one of them so you weren’t waiting in three different lines. I get why they didn’t do the Emperors New Groove characters like this. With them coming out on stage everyone got to see them and get pictures. If they had been doing pictures it would have been hard to have them on stage too, can’t be in two places at once right?!

Unlimited Mickey bars and ice cream sandwiches!

Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon Food, Drinks & Treats

Did someone say unlimited Mickey Ice Cream bars?! Yes, yes they did! Throughout the park you could have as many Mickey bars or ice cream sandwiches, popcorn or non-alcoholic drinks as you wanted. On top of that there were event exclusive foods for purchase. Full transparency, we were too busy having fun to stop and get real food so we didn’t try any of this. But we did eat our fair share of Mickey shaped ice cream in between water slides! Haha! For purchase was the Kronk Burger, Kuzco’s Royal Rice Bowl, Pacha’s Garden Flatbread and Yzma’s Pisco Sour Llamanade. I didn’t notice where any of these were really “instagram worthy” cute but they did look tasty. By the time we thought about eating the food the booth was closed so we ended up with the Kronk Burger from McDonald’s on the way home! Hahaha!

Kuzcotopia Photo Ops and Extras

When we first came into Typhoon Lagoon we were given a Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon waterproof phone case. This came in real handy in the park where we could still take pictures and videos in the wave pool and on the slides. There was a D23 photo op right when you entered the park. Thatcher saw his favorite Disney YouTuber, Paging Mr Morrow when we took our picture and got a selfie with him. He is such a nice guy!

There were Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon signs all over the park and also some fun event exclusive photo ops. By the wave pool there was a Kuzcotopia pop up with suitcases that was so cute! On the other side there was a fun pop up that looked like Yzma’s cabinet of potions and poisons. So incredibly cute!

Water Slides at Kuzcotopia at Typhoon Lagoon

For Thatcher, the best part of this event was being able to walk on all the slides. The longest we waited was about 5 minutes, we had the best time running up tp ride everything. All the slides were open and the wave pool was going until the very end. The only thing I will say here is I kind of wish there was some theming done on the slides to go with Kuzcotopia. I will say that the water slides made for a great video to use the “pull the lever Kronk” audio!!

Conclusion

This was the absolute best theme, whoever came up with this one needs a raise! I will never look at Typhoon Lagoon the same way, it will always be Kuzcotopia now. I am such a sucker for rare characters that you don’t get to see often. Especially when they are from one of my favorite Disney movies! The only thing that was missing was some Kuzcotopia merch. I cannot believe they missed out on that opportunity but my bank account thanks you! I would have had to buy all the things! The vibe at this event was so much fun and I would absolutely go to this again. Thanks for going to Kuzcotopia with me, have a magical day!
