If you’re an EPCOT fan you know there is always a festival to enjoy in this park! There may be a few weeks or a few days in-between as they prepare for the next one but never a long period of time. Well here we are at a point where there is going to be no festival going on in EPCOT for three whole months! Flower and Garden Festival just ended this past Monday and the next festival is Food and Wine that will not start until August. Whatever shall we do?! Well that is what this weeks post is all about, so let’s dive in!
Why is there a gap?
Well unfortunately there is a gap because Flower and Garden Festival is ending much earlier than last year. Last year we got to enjoy this beautiful festival (it’s my favorite) until July 5th! The year it ended on May 27th. On top of that, Food and Wine Festival is starting a month later as well. Last year this festival started on July 27th and this year we have to wait until August 29th. This means there is a a three month gap this year instead of the three week gap we had last year.
So What Is Happening For 3 Whole Months?
Well, there are actually a lot of things happening in the park at this time. My guess is that Disney wants us all to have lots of time to focus on enjoying the new things coming to the parks with no distractions. We already love the new Wold Celebration area so I am eager to see more construction walls come down. And who knows, maybe there will be some surprises we don’t even know about yet!
Communicore Plaza Shows
On June 10th Communicore Hall will be opening in EPCOT and will officially mean the construction is over in this park! The Hall was built specifically for festival programming but is going to be open all year with lots of fun offerings. There is going to be a Plaza outside where guests can relax and see live entertainment. This includes a new Encanto show in the Plaza! The show will be called Celebracion Encanto and include songs and stories from the movie and will definitely talk about Bruno.
Inside Communicore Hall
Inside Communicore Hall there will be a gallery space that hosts exhibitions, aa demonstration kitchen, mixology bar and more. I am hoping there will be some fun things going on over this three week festival hiatus and we don’t have to wait for Food and Wine to start to see how it will be used. Inside the Hall will also have areas to sit and and relax in the AC which is always good in the hot Florida summers!
Mickey & Friends Meet and Greet
Also in this Hall will be a new Character Meet and Greet space where you can meet with Mickey and Friends! This will become the official home for these Meet and Greets instead of the areas you currently see them meeting. This should be a fun new character experience in the AC!
What About Food?
Well, we don’t really know what’s going to happen with food at Communicore Hall yet since Disney has not announced anything just yet. But I am sure there will be some food offerings in some way, there always is right?! We know there is a Festival Favorites sign that has gone up and I am assuming this will be some kind of festival food booth. I personally would love it if this was something that was open all year long and just offered some of the favorites from each festival all the time instead of just when those festivals are going on. But we will have to wait and see! We know there will be the kitchen demonstration area as well so maybe we will get some tasty treats from that as well.
Conclusion
It’s definitely going to be weird not having a festival in EPCOT for three whole months but it is very exciting to know all the construction walls will be gone soon and we will have this new beautiful area to enjoy! I’m hopeful Disney will give us lots of exciting things at Communicore Hall to enjoy while there is no festival going on. Keep in mind that Test Track will be closing for refurbishment on June 17th as well so I guess we will still have some construction. But like Walt said, the parks will never be finished, they will always be growing and changing!
