Last night we got to experience our first time being “hosted” at an event! We were invited to come and experience a new attraction in Orlando called Earth Illuminated and it was awesome. The date worked out perfectly as this week is the boys Spring Break and I didn’t have to fly out until today (Thursday). This was a totally new experience for us in lots of ways so I thought I would share with all of you today!
What Is Earth Illuminated?
“The beauty of creation doesn’t exist without a viewer to see it” Nate Webb. Earth Illuminated is the newest attraction coming to The Point in Orlando right off International Drive. It is a really cool immersive experience that aims to show you how different we all see things in the world. There are tons of different scenes set up in the space with music playing and different lighting effects. One of the coolest things was how each scene changed depending on the lighting effect being used in that moment.
We started out like we were in a spaceship heading to space to see the world in a different light, this was really neat because the recorded audio in here explained how our eyes see things differently from one person to the next and how light and sound even effect how we see things. From there you walked through a “portal” and felt like you walked right into space with a big glowing planet Earth in the corner!
Scenes & Photo Ops
Once inside you could explore freely through all different scenes and photo opportunities. There were different nature scenes, weather scenes, emotions and moods. Each scene had different props you could interact with and take the coolest pictures with! The boys especially loved the giant plush bean bag towards the end!
Each scene was so unique and honestly I wanted to steal some of the furniture they were using in some of them! Hahaha! This was obviously put together meticulously as there was so much detail and texture to each section, and they aren’t even completely finished with all of it, this was just a preview.
Everything from neon signs with cool messages, illuminated jellyfish that made you feel like you were under water to a creepy spider web with giant bugs and a beautiful couch on a cloud with floating umbrellas you could grab onto!
At the very end there was an affirmation wall where you could write a message to other “viewers” of the Earth around you. Thatcher especially loved this and had to write his own message about how nice the staff at Earth Illuminated were and how cool the experience was.
How Did We Get Invited?
Like I said in the beginning, this was our first time being what they call “hosted” at an event. Earth Illuminated had reached out to me a few weeks ago on Instagram asking if I would like to come preview the attraction and then share our experience on social media and the blog. They were so sweet and had all four of us out and gave each of us a gift bag with some cool stuff inside. Although we went for free and got to have free reign over the entire experience, I would have gone to this and told y’all about it anyway! It was such a cool and different experience and to my knowledge, there is nothing else like this in Central Florida! We plan to go back once they are officially open and bring some friends along.
How Do YOU Get Tickets?
Earth Illuminated is not officially open to the public yet, but will be very soon. You should definitely follow them on Instagram here so you will know when they announce the grand opening. And you will be able to purchase tickets here! If you are in the Orlando area as a local or visiting soon this really is a don’t miss experience. It will be totally different from anything else you will find in Central Florida and you will get the BEST pictures! Conclusion
Honestly, I never imagined anyone would invite us to come and experience something for free in return for sharing the experience with others. We felt very special with our VIP wristbands, getting to be the only ones in the experience and getting gift bags at the end. I truly hope some of you go and check Earth Illuminated out because it really is a one of a kind experience. PLUS, The Point is such a cool little area! There are tons of great restaurants and shops and other attractions all within walking distance. We’ve decided when we go back to Earth Illuminated with some friends that we are going to make a night of it and go out to eat and check out some of the shops!
