D23 Movie Pre Screen Event

If you don’t know what D23 is, it is the official Disney fan club and has free and paid membership levels. They host a huge event in California every other year called the D23 Expo where they announce all the new movies, attractions and more. In the off years they host a smaller, but still big event here in Walt Disney World called Destination D23. But what about the rest of the time? Why have a membership if it’s just getting you access to one event a year? Well, there are lots of other events! One of the main kind of events here in Florida are pre screenings for movies and new series. Each of these events have been slightly different. Last night we attended the pre screen for the new Captain America: Brave New World movie in Disney Springs! This week I am sharing our experience, not only with this pre screen but some others we have been to and will be attending so you can decide if D23 might be something you would like to join!

The Details

This event and all other movie pre screen are available to D23 Gold Members (paid membership) through the D23 app or website. These events usually sell out within hours so when you see it, get it! These tickets were $10 and included your movie ticket, popcorn, drink and a commemorative event credential. You really cannot beat that since you wouldn’t even be able to get a movie ticket for $10! The movie started at 7pm so they ask that you arrive an hour in advance to pick up credentials and get settled in the theater.

Check In Process

At Disney Springs the movie is obviously shown at AMC Theater by the Orange Garage. But, you don’t go in either of the main entrances for these events. You enter behind Everglazed Donuts in a backstage area that enters one of the side entrances of AMC Theater. A D23 Cast member scans your tickets and then they send you to a table to get your popcorn and drink vouchers and your credential. They let you know what theater to go to and send you on your way. From there you just have to have that credential visible and find some seats and get your snacks!

The Movie

No spoilers!! The movie was great, we all really enjoyed it. I won’t give anything away just know you will have moments of celebrating and moments of feeling sad and relating to the “villains” in the movie as much as the hero’s. The movie opens on Friday so grab your tickets and your shield and go see it this weekend!

Other Events

Last year we attended our first one of these events to see the new Planet of the Apes movie, That event was $38 and included a full dinner and open bar at Stargazers Lounge. They gave us wrist bands and when we went to the theater everyone got a Planet of the Apes movie poster, popcorn and a drink. It was definitely a good deal for the price! We also went to the pre screen for the first two episodes of Agatha All Along. This was a free event and we were given wrist bands and an Agatha All Along Poster but no popcorn or drinks. Next we went to the Mufasa pre screen that was also a free event with the wristbands and at this one we got a Mufasa postcard and paper Christmas tree ornament. In about three and a half weeks we are going to an anniversary screening of Wreck It Ralph that was $35 and you get the movie, soda, special edition Gideon’s Bakehouse cookie and a limited-edition anniversary themed pin! There are still tickets available for the Wreck It Ralph anniversary screening to make sure you get yours!

So like I said, each event is a little different in what is included and the price but they are all pretty reasonably priced for what you are getting which is rare these days! We always enjoy these events and love that they are doing them more now.

Conclusion

You can check for events most easily on the D23 app. I won’t lie, I pretty much check it every day because sometimes the announcements are slow to get to you. I missed an event I would have LOVED to go to this past Halloween and now I am scarred and check every day! Hahaha! I feel like, for the most part you could not go to the movies to see these films any cheaper for things like tonight. The ones that are a little more money always come with extra stuff and if you added it all up it would be a steal! So I highly recommend getting a D23 Gold Membership and keeping an eye out for local events. They even have events in other states, I know South Carolina has a really cool event coming up on the art of Hero’s and Villains, looks so cool! I thank you all so much for reading along and have a magical day!
