Disney decided to drop some bombs this morning and I have feelings. So I thought I would just do an extra post this week to fill you in on the news and my thoughts on it all! If you have been keeping up and read my daily recaps on the D23 Expo in California in August then you know some big changes are coming to Hollywood Studios. The details were all little vague at the time but we are now getting more info and can start to see how it’s all going to take shape!
Goodbye Muppets Courtyard
Well it is official….Muppets Courtyard will be leaving us to make room for Monstropolis and all the new Monsters Inc things coming to Hollywood Studios. We are getting a suspended door coaster here as well as shopping, dining and all things Monsters Inc. this will mean that Mama Melrose, Pizza Rizzo and sadly, Muppet Vision 3D will all be closing. Closing dates have not been announced yet but the construction is supposed to begin in 2025. I am very sad about Muppet Vision 3D BUT the Muppets are not being wiped off the Hollywood Studios map!
Goodbye Aerosmith
The Muppets are moving!!! That’s right, they will be moving over to Rock’n’ Roller Coaster and Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem will be the new band on this coaster! I am honestly so stocked for this and cannot wait. I guess this will kind of be like the new Muppets Courtyard. I am low key wishing they just move Miss Piggy’s fountain over here because that is just so iconic and the park will not be the same without it. I think we can all agree that this ride needed an update, as much as I love Aerosmith, I am not sad about this change at all. But I am ready to ROCK with Animal and Janice!!!!! Maybe we will finally get some Muppets meet and greets here.
Conclusion (And Lots Of Questions)
So I know I am no Imagineer and there are bigger, brighter minds than mine working on this stuff but I have some concerns and questions. I understand the rethemes and I am genuinely excited for all the things coming to Hollywood Studios but I want to know why they would not have done Monsters Inc in Animation Courtyard. It’s literally a dead zone. I know they are saying the Little Mermaid show is coming back and there are Disney Jr things over there but it is just so discombobulated and really just not a draw. Where as Muppet Courtyard and Rock’n’ Roller Coaster are still a draw right now. So why revamp two areas that are already doing ok and leave an area that no one goes to? Makes me wonder if there isn’t another announcement coming for something to go in there? They have also already announced the retheme of the Lightning McQueen Racing School show to become villains, that show isn’t even that old and while I love villains it is just a little confusing as to why they wouldn’t redo something in Animation Courtyard instead. Unless they have some big plans for that area that they have not revealed yet or have not fully formed yet? Tell me what you think the plan is for Animation Courtyard, if anything!!
