Celebrating anything in Disney is extra magical but birthdays are the best! Whether it’s a special treat at dinner, cast member telling you happy birthday everywhere you go or just some extra pixie dust in your park day, birthdays are the best in Disney! We just celebrated Sawyer’s 15th birthday and Thatchers was in August so I thought I would share a little of how we celebrated at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
Get That Birthday Pin!
The first thing you want to do is head to the nearest Disney retail location or guest services to get your Happy Birthday pin! A cast member will write your name on your button and you should then wear it EVERYWHERE you go! These are free and great keepsakes for your birthday trip.
Restaurants
One of our most favorite things to do is go eat out in Disney! There are so many great restaurants and we all have our favorites! For Thatchers birthday he chose to go to Splitsville for pizza and they brought him out a little Ice Cream sundae with a candle! We also ate at Tutto Italia in EPCOT for his birthday while big sister was in town and they brought him out dessert and sang to him too! Honestly, as I am recapping this I am realizing how spoiled Thatcher was for his birthday! Hahaha! Bethany also took him to Cinderella’s Royal Table where she had ordered him a Mickey dome cake that was brought out to him with a candle and more singing! Sawyer was a little more low key, Homecoming in Disney Springs is his favorite so we went there where he got extra chicken and mac and cheese because he was holding out for a Dole Whip at Swirls on the Water! We also went to Enzo’s Hideaway to celebrate Sawyer, he is so much more low key than Thatcher so he requested no singing but did get a chocolate gelato brought out to him.
No matter what restaurant you go to in Disney, you will be celebrated if they know it’s your birthday. They will know it’s your birthday from your birthday button you will be wearing since I told you to do that first right? You can also let them know you are celebrating when you make the reservation or when you check in.
In The Parks
As long as you have that Birthday button on you will get all the Happy Birthdays in the parks. You may even get a little extra magic like if you’re lucky! The boys have gotten free treats just walking around, stickers, random Happy Birthday songs started by cast members in the middle of the park and stickers. I have known someone who even got an all day lightning lane pass on their birthday!!
Check With Stores
Stores that you shop in and have a rewards program with may also have birthday rewards for you! The Lego store usually has a mini figure for your birthday so of course we went there for Sawyer’s birthday. Other stores will also have birthday treats for you if you are signed up for their rewards program so always make sure you check on that!
Character Interactions
When you meet characters it’s always magical but when they know it’s your birthday they make a big deal out of you! Whether it’s a Princess or Mickey himself they will be so happy to see you on your special day! They usually spend a little extra time with you as well which is fun to take pictures and videos of. even if characters are not your thing you should stop in and see one or two with your birthday button on!
Conclusion
Obviously we love any excuse to celebrate in Disney but birthdays are our favorite! We love going to our favorite restaurants, seeing a favorite character and just getting all the Happy Birthdays from the amazing cast members that make everything so special. Always get the birthday button and wear it your whole trip, not just the day of your birthday, because in Disney birthdays last longer!
